Famous Superheros

• Who doesn’t like super heroes? In fact, we grew up with them, didn’t we? We often talk about Spiderman, Superman, Iron Man, Flash and many uncountable names.
• From having powers and abilities like super strength to being able to traverse any distance in a matter of seconds, our superheroes are up for the game every time.
• A superhero is a type of heroic character, usually possessing supernatural or superhuman powers, who is dedicated to fighting the evil of their universe, protecting the public, and usually battling super-villains.

Here is a list of superheroes throughout the ages:

Superhero	Description
Batman	1. Batman is created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. He first appeared in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939). 2. Unlike most heroes, he has no special powers and he still can beat anyone. 3. He’s just a normal guy, like you and me, with his mind, and supercomputer in the Batcave, he has been able to solve many problems.
Spiderman	1. Spider-Man is Marvel comic’s number one superhero. 2. He is created by Stan Lee (writer) and Steve Ditko (artist). Spiderman first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 (Aug. 1962). 3. Spider-Man has spider like abilities including superhuman strength and the ability to cling to most surfaces.
Superman	1. Created by Jerry Siegel (writer) and Joe Shuster (artist), Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1 (June 1938. 2. With the success of his adventures, Superman helped to create the superhero genre. 3. He’s like every other superhero rolled into one.
Wonder Woman	1. Wonder Woman is the World’s most well-known female superhero. 2. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston as a “distinctly feminist role model whose mission was to bring the Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality to a world torn by the hatred of men.” 3. She first appeared in All Star Comics #8 (December 1941).
Hulk	1. The Hulk is a fictional superhero created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. 2. The character first appeared in the debut issue of The Incredible Hulk (May 1962). 3. In his comic book appearances, the character the Hulk, a green-skinned, hulking and muscular humanoid possessing a vast degree of physical strength.
Iron Man	1. A wealthy industrialist, Tony Stark suffered a severe heart injury when he was kidnapped by terrorists who tried to force him to build a weapon of mass destruction. 2. Instead, he created a powered suit of Armor to save his life and escape captivity. 3. Tony would later use the suit to protect the world as the invincible Iron Man.
Captain America	1. In World War II, patriotic solider Steve Rogers volunteered as a test subject for the “Super Soldier Serum” and became a living symbol of freedom. 2. Timely Comics’ most popular character during the war, he was often depicted fighting the Axis powers.
Shaktimaan	1. Shaktimaan attained his heroic powers through deep meditation. 2. He was capable of activating certain chakras which gave him powers.
Krrish	1. Krrish is an Indian superhero created by Rakesh Roshan and played by his son Hrithik Roshan. 2. The story revolves around the extra-terrestrial ‘Jadoo’ who gives Krrish’s father abilities which got transferred to him. 3. His powers include jumping to and from great heights, super human strength and super-fast reflex actions.

Interesting Facts:

• Superman was supposed to be a bald character, obsessed with dominating the world.
• We know that the Hulk is green. But did you know that originally the Hulk was supposed to be grey in colour? Since green looked better in print, the colour of the Hulk was changed to green.
• Superman is a vegetarian. Since Superman’s senses are sharper than a human’s, he is aware of when a life aura ends. So, he was made a vegetarian.
• Remember Michael Jackson? He came very close to owning Marvel Comics because he wanted to play the role of Spider-man. We would have had a break-dancing Spidey then!
• Captain America’s Shield beats up villains and provides justice. However, this round shaped shield was originally supposed to be heraldic-shaped.
• Who is Batman’s favourite enemy? Yes, the Joker. The Joker was supposed to die just after the first Batman series. But writers saw potential in the villain and brought him back to mess around with Batman.
• Wonder Woman was made out of clay by her mother and was brought to life by the Greek Gods.
