Time and its transition are a valuable lesson for children’s life. As they grow up, kids start learning about how much time is required to complete an action, for example, going to school, using certain events to guide themselves -starting school, having lunch or going home. Of course, all of these happen in a short time, but learning about the 12 months of the year will help the little ones understand about more lengthy periods of time.
A month is a unit oftime, used with calendars, which is approximately as long as a natural period related to the motion of the moon.
A year is divided into 12 months in the modern-day Gregorian calendar. Each month has either 28, 30, or 31 days during a common year, which has 365 days. During leap years, which occur nearly every 4 years, we add an extra (intercalary) day, Leap Day, on 29 February, making leap years 366 days long.
Most years that can be cleanly divided by four are leap years. 2016, 2020 and 2024, for example, are leap years. This is to keep our current calendar aligned with the solar yearand astronomical seasons markedby equinoxes and solstices.
